MICROBLADING AFTERCARE

September 29, 2016

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Gently apply the aftercare ointment with clean, washed hands or with sterile Q-Tips.

• Do not get your brows wet for the next 10-12 days. This includes saunas, steam rooms/baths or sweat. Apply ointment before showering and avoid putting your face directly under the shower head.

• Maintain moisture on your brows with the aftercare ointment. Reapply regularly when eyebrows feel dry or brow skin feels taught. Apply just enough product to moisten them, if your brows still visibly have product on, there is no need to apply more. Too much product will also cause the scab to lift prematurely and affect the healing process.

• Do not wipe off aftercare ointment from your eyebrows. This can cause the scab to fall off prematurely. Let the ointment absorb into the skin.

• DO NOT pick, scratch or rub your scabs.

• Avoid facial cleansers or soap on brows until all scabbing falls off. We recommend using wash cloths or face wipes to remove makeup and cleanse face.

• Do not wear makeup over your brows until scabs have fallen off – usually up to 14 days.

• Avoid working out or sweating profusely until after 10 days. Salt in your sweat will draw the pigment out.

• Sleep on your back! Rubbing your brows on pillows may cause scabs to come off and produce patchy brow healing.

• Please note there are stages to your brows healing. Initially brows will become very dark, then light – sometimes appearing as though the hair stroke has disappeared – and then color returning once fully healed. Please trust the process! Follow up touchup is included and the entire brow is microbladed again.

MICROBLADING FAQ

September 29, 2016
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT?

• 24 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE.
• 72 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary.
• Botox should be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the procedure.
• Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.
• No waxing, tanning or tinting 3 days before.
• Arrive with no makeup for your appointment. A lot of wiping of pigment takes place and makeup can get ruined, so save yourself the hassle!
• Be prepared for your brows to look a little red and really dark! – don’t worry, they will fade in color 30-50%.

You are NOT a suitable candidate for this procedure if you are:

• Pregnant
• History of Keloids or Hypertrophic scarring
• Diabetic (require doctor’s clearance)
• Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
• Viral infections and/or diseases
• Epilepsy
• Pacemaker or major heart problems
• Organ transplant
• Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)
• Sick (cold, flu, etc.)
• Accutane in the past year
• Heart conditions, Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, Poor general health.
• Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system / healing would make you NOT a good candidate for micropigmentation procedures.

How long does a microblading treatment take?

Microblading is a 2 step process, usually 6-8 weeks apart. It is important to complete both the initial procedure and touch up.

STEP 1: The initial procedure takes approximately 2 hours. During this time, a
consultation is done where we discuss your desired brow look, choose a colour tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Though our faces are NOT perfectly symmetrical (one side is usually flatter than the other), we do our very best to create as much symmetry as possible! As we like to say BROWS ARE SISTERS, NOT TWINS. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, the area is then traced over and semi-permanent pigment is applied with a disposable microblading hand tool. This procedure uses a manual hand tool and not a machine.

STEP 2: The second stage of the treatment is a TOUCH-UP appointment. The touch up that takes approximately 1 hour and is included in your service. Touch ups are done no earlier than 5 weeks of your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks. If you do not schedule your touchup within 10 weeks, you will be required to pay a touch up fee outlined in our touchup schedule.

It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Colour will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, color tones and finishes the process.

**Occasionally a third touch up (4-6 weeks later) is necessary for certain clients where the pigment does not take as well to the skin.**

How long can I expect it to last?

The pigment used in microblading is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years. The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 months to 24 months maximum. After 2 years, full price for microblading will apply.

For clients that choose a softer look and lighter color shade initially or those who did not follow the after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups.

Factors that will cause your microbladed brow tattoo fade faster:
• Iron deficiency
• Sun exposure
• Exfoliants
• Strong immune systems
• Exposure to salt water
• Smoking

Are Semi-Permanent Eyebrows deemed permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

Does the application hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure the microblading procedure is as pain free as possible. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is used prior to and during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable while others report no discomfort at all.

How long is the recovery or healing time?

Immediately after your microblading procedure and in the first 10 days, your brows will appear significantly darker and defined than perhaps your desired look. It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. 30-50% of your brow color will fade as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days. In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS. The pigment is within the scab and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works on one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results.

The complete healing process takes approximately 6 weeks.

How do you choose a colour?

We choose a colour together by applying small amounts of different coloured pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule of thumb, we closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results.

What types of pigments do you use?

We use iron oxide pigments that will fade over time and are naturally absorbed by the skin. Iron oxides are innocuous, harmless and perfectly safe for your skin.

Can I have my brows microbladed if I’m pregnant?

No you cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant in case of infection.

Does it hurt afterwards?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender to touch for a couple days.

Can you micro blade over an existing brow tattoo?

Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo and submit a picture to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Will my microbladed brows look fake?

NO! Semi-Permanent makeup is done using a cosmetic tattooing process and our
eyebrow pigmentation unique artistry guarantees soft, natural looking eyebrows. When we implant semi-permanent makeup pigment in the skin, it appears more natural looking than topically applied cosmetics.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This depends on the
client. If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding
may occur. Bruising is rare but can occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days.

PLEASE NOTE: THE RESULTS ARE VERY NATURAL AND FULLER LOOKING BROW. INITIALLY, THE BROWS APPEAR DARKER, BUT FADE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL TO HAVE A TOUCH UP DONE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT HOW WELL YOUR SKIN WILL RETAIN THE PIGMENT. DUE TO THIS AND MANY OTHER VARYING FACTORS, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR RESULTS.

BRIDAL FAQ

April 5, 2015
What is a Consultation and Trial? Is it necessary?

Your consultation and trial is the perfect opportunity for you to meet with your Makeup + Hair Artist and discuss how you want to look on your wedding day!  This service includes: color consultation – discussion of wedding theme, colors, desired makeup+hair for the day, face chart, full application of makeup including false lashes and trial of your hair design. This service is optional for bridal party members and mothers.

Bridal Trials are highly recommended as it gives the artist an opportunity to get to know you and what you want. Because wedding mornings are very fast paced, it does not allow for much time to do a consultation on the wedding day. It is more more relaxed for both the bride and bridal artist to just recreate what has already been mapped out on the day of the trial and each look will only improve on your wedding day! Trust us, it’s an important part of the process!

How far in advance should I book a Trial?

Tori Blush Artists are generally booked 6-12 months in advance (believe it or not!) so it is important to come in as soon as possible to secure your wedding date. For many brides, a deposit is made well before their trial to ensure their wedding date is held. Once a deposit is received, a consultation and trial can be scheduled two to three months before your big day! Waiting until closer to your wedding day allows the artists to see your skin and make any skincare recommendations if necessary. It’s also nice to see the length of your hair to ensure your requested style is attainable.

Where do your Consultations and Trials take place?

Principal Artist, Suzanna and Lead Artists conducts all trials at our studio in New Westminster.

Can I book my Trial on the day of my Engagement shoot?

In theory this is a great idea, however, you don’t want to look the exact same in your engagement pictures as you do on your wedding day, do you? I always suggest doing a separate engagement makeup+hair appointment as the trial is really a day to lock down and try your entire wedding day look. Engagement makeup + hair is generally a little more relaxed and casual. But definitely plan your trial on a day where you have somewhere to go. Date night or even your bridal shower is a great day to test out and wear your wedding day makeup + hair!

What is airbrush makeup – will my makeup last all day?

Airbrush makeup is a process where foundation is sprayed in micro dots onto the skin. At Tori Blush we only use Temptu professional airbrush makeup which provides flawless coverage that doesn’t look or feel caked on. The best part is, it lasts and lasts – even through the heat and all the tears! We also only use high end luxury brands that have been tried, tested and have proven to go the entire day, morning til night!

What brands of makeup do you use?

We carry all high end luxury brands of makeup including NARS, Chanel, Urban Decay, Stila, Makeup Forever,  have a variety of professional and luxury well suited to accommodate all the different skin types.

Are you able to accommodate large bridal parties?

Yes! We have a large enough team to cover as many women as you require. Each booking of 4 come with two Artists. For parties of 6 or more, each additional artist is $150. This is to help with the speed of getting all of your beautiful ladies ready. Plus, no one wants to wake up earlier than they have to!

How long will it take to get everyone ready on the wedding day?

The Bride is allotted approximately 1hr 30min for both makeup and hair services. Please allow 40 minutes for each service for Bridesmaids, Mothers and other Attendants.

Do you provide a Touch-up Kit or Touch-up Services?

Every Tori Blush Bride receives a full size touch-up lip gloss or color for their big day! A deluxe kit can be customized and be available for purchase at THE STUDIO. Tori Blush also provides Touch-up Services / Bridal Look Changes that are outlined in our “Bridal” page. Do you have a minimum booking policy?

Yes, due to the demand for our bridal services all year round, we have a minimum booking of 4 people for makeup and hair. You will have 2 artist getting you and your bridal party ready for your big day.

How do I book Tori Blush Bridal Services:?

A wedding day is not considered booked until a deposit has been received and a contract signed. If you would like to secure your bridal services with Tori Blush, it is important to book your trial as soon as you have confirmed your wedding date. You can opt to have your trial at a later date, but submit your deposit to save your date! 50% deposit is required to hold and secure your wedding date and time slot. 50% is due on or before your wedding day, prior to the commencement of services.
